Edith Wharton is among my favorite authors and when this book was compared to her I instantly picked it up. This is an updated twist on Wharton's heroines where we find twenty-something Evelyn trying to navigate wealth and love. While she struggles to define herself within her own space her mother tries desperately to marry her off to the most eligible bachelor. But family strife threatens to ruin any chances she might have at happiness. I dearly loved that this book didn't go where I thought it would. It is impressive that she managed to stay very earnest with her young protagonist despite some pretty outlandish situations. Clifford has a charming style that is not to be missed. Paperback available June 14, 2016.
