The Slow Walker
Inside this slim book are 52 essays that range from funny and sweet to contemplative and moving. I was laughing at times but also found myself overcome with emotion at his reflections on life. Dan North has a journalist's eye for detail but clearly the soul of a poet. His descriptions of simple things like the flap of a bird's wing are as lush as they are accurate. As he states, his hope for this book is that it might inspire people to take a walk in nature and soak it in. I can say with no uncertainty that I have been inspired to do just that. I really enjoyed this book and will be buying a copy for my whole family.
