The Assistants

The Assistants

by Camille Perri

This book is for everyone that has ever felt unappreciated at work but also touches on the gender pay gap and the struggle of millennials. Camille has said recently that she wanted to write a book that was "social commentary dressed in chick lit clothes" and she really achieved just that. This could just be a book about two young women who are pushed to commit a crime due to a lack of respect from the men in power but she takes it to a more broad, universal place. To a place where many people my age find themselves- out of college with a huge debt and a low paying job. The story is fun and captivating with a perfect dusting of sharp, smart insights. A fantastic debut from a writer that has so much promise. I can't wait to see what she has coming next.
